Purpose: COURSE DATES: Saturday & Sunday(s): Feb: 10; 11; 24; 25; / Mar: 10; 11; 24; 25; / Apr: 14; 15; 28; 29; / May: 12; 13; This program will consist of various lectures and practical evolutions to meet the competencies for certification in the State of New Jersey. This course will meet the N.F.P.A. 1001 standard for level II certification. Students having subjects offered in this class, and meet the requirement by providing a valid certificate for the subject / module, will be excused from attending that subject matter. Attending students will be required to pass a State of New Jersey written examination, and all practical skills to receive their certification certificate.

17-200  Ice Rescue Level I Awareness

Purpose: This First Responder program is designed to meet the awareness level in various subjects. The lecture is designed to cover the Introduction to Ice, Cold Water Emergencies, Planning, Equipment needs, Hazards associated with operations, I.M.S. Considerations, and Understanding the Ice and formations. Students will review past incidents to learn from mistakes made and how to prepare for similar incidents in their local. Everyone needs to be prepared of a possible mutual-aid assignment, and recognize the responsibilities of the responder, the various types of equipment needed to support an operation.

Purpose: Course Dates: Saturday & Sunday(s): Feb: 03; 04; 17; 18; Mar: 03; 04; 17; 18; This program is designed to assist fire company members between the ages of 16-18, to recognize occupational hazards, identify equipment, and begin building the necessary skills to operate safely on an emergency scene.
 
17-219  R.I.C. Awareness

Purpose: A 4-hour classroom lecture will cover the commonly found problems in the emergency services' response as a Rapid Intervention Team. The awareness level course takes the student from the time of dispatch up until the "Mayday" transmission. A reiew of the responsibility, equipment needed, and what proactive task needs to be completed on every RIT assignment will be discussed. On a dialy basis, firefighters place themselves in life and death situations that could trap our own. Students will be guided through various techniques during the lecture and given an opportunity to discuss concepts. (This class will be a pre-requisite for additional RIC-Team courses offered at this academy)

17-216  Technical Rescue Awareness

Purpose: This first responder program is designed to meet the awareness level in various subjects. The lecture is designed to cover subject material in NJSP Confined Space, Trench Rescue, Collapse, Water/Ice and Auto Machine Awareness. Students must be aware of the hazards they face and how to prepare for incidents not only in their jurisdiction, but possibly on a mutual-aid assignment. The lecture will review the responsibilities of the responder, the various types of equipment needed to support an operation, and how the first responder can begin to mitigate the incident. *** Students will need to provide their own lunch. ***

17-213  Vehicle Extrication II

Purpose: 08:00AM-16:00PM This "Hands-On" program will present the student with various problems commonly found in motor vehicle collisions. Students will be instructed on scene size up, develop their own command structure, and mitigate the extrication process. Students will be guided through various techniques and critique each scenario at the completion.*STUDENTS WILL NEED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN LUNCH ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY*
